Songs About Madness!

If you missed Eggs on the radio Sunday you can listen to the archive HERE.

Ben Eisen and Ryan Blake (hosts of All Time Top Ten With Ryan and Ben) were kind enough to invite me to be a guest on their show. They asked me to choose a theme so I picked Top Ten Songs About MADNESS! The date was set and then Ryan Blake had to miss out due to Easter festivities. Ben and I soldiered on, however, and the resulting lists are pretty solid.

Eggs writer Jon Rosenberg even played the movie game on my track #9 and called in and won tickets to An Evening with Lynn Lowry!

I'm happy to report that Zombie Jesus stayed out of the radio station, but I did have momentary flashes to that fantastic Chop Top scene in Texas Chainsaw Massacre II.

If you want to know my top ten songs you'll have to listen to the show, but click on the links below to hear my alternate picks:

#11.) Off the Wall by Michael Jackson
"Let the madness in the music get to you!"

#12.) I Kill Children by Dead Kennedys
"I kill children!
I love to see them die.
I kill children!
And make their mamas cry."

#13.) They're Coming to Take Me Away, as covered by Lard
"Remember when you ran away and I got on my knees and begged you not to leave because I'd go berserk?!"

#14.) My Dad's Gone Crazy by Eminem
"Somebody, please help him!
I think my dad's gone crazy!"

#15.) Look at Your Game Girl by Charles Manson
"What a mad delusion
Living in that confusion
Frustration and doubt
Can you ever live without the game?"

#16.) No Vacation by The Apples in Stereo
"I tell myself I’m doing fine
There’s no vacation in my mind"

Easter Eggs!

It's Easter and Eggs is celebrating by going on the radio!

Check out Killradio.org today at 2:30 PST as I countdown my top ten songs about MADNESS! This is part of an awesome radio program called All Time Top Ten w/ Ryan and Ben. Be sure to listen live because I'm giving away 2 tickets to An Evening with Lynn Lowry at the New Beverly Theater and a copy of The Crazies (1973) on DVD.

Just open THIS link at 2:30 and listen in!

This past Friday I had a meeting with Richard (Producer) and Derrick (A.D.) at Sonic in Duarte. (From here on, I think all production meetings should include tator tots and cherry lime aid.)

While we were discussing the script breakdown and working out a schedule, some guy showed up across the street at the trailer park carrying a cross on his back! Of course I pulled out my camera and started taking pictures.

After a few steps, the journey proved too difficult for the guy and he had to take a break beneath the shade of a tree, resting his christ-y load on the grass.

Then a woman showed up and the two began heatedly arguing, with lots of exaggerated body language. They were too far away for us to hear what they were saying, but I imagine it was fraught with biblical fervor. Of course I can't be sure... It may simply have been:

Woman: "Hey guy in the grass... I really like your gigantic wooden cross!"
Guy with Jesus complex: "Why thank you, kind and wonderful lady! I like the way you wag your finger in my face as you scream friendly words at me!"

I suspect not, though.

It all came to an end when the guy's buddy pulled up, took the cross and put it on the back of his pickup. Then the two guys drove off on the next leg of their holy cross-bearing trek, presumably making new friends all the way.

If only Jesus had access to a buddy with a pickup, perhaps the stations of the cross would've ended much differently.

Happy Easter!

And be sure to listen to the radio today!

An Evening w/ Lynn Lowry - April 19th, 2012

I'm finally able to announce the specifics of the event that I teased about in my last post:

Thursday, April 19th at the New Beverly Theater: The Crazies (1973) and Cat People (1982), with Lynn Lowry in person! A portion of the ticket sales go toward Eggs, so PLEASE come to the show and support!

For only $8 you get TWO badass movies on the big screen, with an audience, the way they were meant to be seen, and Lynn Lowry in person. Plus I'm giving away raffle prizes before each movie, and I've got other surprises planned. For 8 bucks, you can't beat that price!

You can read all the details HERE:
http://www.facebook.com/events/397635546922573/

And purchase tickets HERE:
http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/241771

It might be a good idea to buy tickets in advance as this is a one night only event and a rare chance to see these movies on the big screen!

See you there!

Mark Your Calendars!

April 19th. Thursday. Night.

I cannot officially announce details just yet, but you will want to be there. Seating is limited. An amazing time will be had. Stay tuned for more information.

In the mean time, today I had a fantastically productive 2 hour meeting with Dave Wilson, aka the Special Effects Supervisor on Eggs. We're in the process of designing some pretty gnarly effects shots for a number of kills, as well as a sequence involving a pretty nasty custom prop fabrication. Let's just say the topic quickly turned to Thousand Year Old Eggs. Ew, gross.

Also present was the wonderful and amazing Cathie Horlick. Much brainstorming occurred regarding promotion of the above-mentioned April 19th secret mystery event that you have all now marked on your calendars.

More on that soon. But seriously... put a big red circle on that date!

As always, thanks for reading!

Meet the Crew!

I have been very sick the last 3 weeks or so, and as a result I've slacked on a lot of my responsibilities to this project. We still have a lot of work to do before production, such as raising the budget and finding a Grocery Store location. (I've scouted up and down the valley and have narrowed it down to 3 locations, so with any luck I'll be able to lock this down soon.) One thing that is almost totally in place, however, is the crew. At least the major positions are all mostly filled.

I'm especially excited to announce the involvement of our amazing DP, David Hardberger, who did the miniature photography on the Lord of the Rings trilogy and whose imdb page reads like a list of some of your favorite movies of the last 30 years!

Anyway, this crew list is incomplete... notably lacking still is a Production designer/Set Dresser, Sound Department, Craft Services and Caterer, various Production Assistants, etc. The bulk of the crew is in place, however, and I'd prefer to express my pride and thanks to these wonderful people now rather than wait for the few remaining positions to be filled. I can always post the updated list later when it's ready.

Without further delay, meet the Eggs crew!

Meet Reginald!

Reginald is the largest supporting character in the story. Essentially, he manages a grocery store in the small town where our story takes place. The script describes him simply:

"REGINALD (40), the store manager, a tall, plump man with illfitting pants and an infectious smile..."

In a larger sense, Reginald represents that segment of society that is perhaps least caring about his fellow man. He's not a jerk, exactly... he simply has a cynical view on life and a tough-love approach to other people. He's worked hard to get his small piece of the American pie and he certainly didn't get there by giving money to the homeless or reading to the elderly. He's smart enough to see the warning signs that something is very wrong in his community, but he figures it's someone else's problem, not his. He's about to be proven very wrong!

I knew I wanted someone great to play this part, so Jon and I brainstormed and came up with a list of about fifteen dream cast choices. I narrowed that down further and reached out to one actor over the weekend.

Today I'm happy to announce that Reginald will be played by the wonderfully talented Stephen Geoffreys! (Fright Night, 976-Evil, Sick Girl, New Terminal Hotel, etc.)

I can't tell you how thrilled this makes me.

With this final part now filled, the cast for Eggs is officially locked and in place. I'll post an introduction to the rest of the cast later this week. Thanks for reading!
